From her London studio based in the Goldsmiths’ Centre in Clerkenwell Melanie Eddy creates sculptural
jewellery that uses geometry as a tool to explore the relationship of form to the body.
She is a Director of The Association for Contemporary Jewellery and is consistently involved in projects relating
to her field; sector development, research, writing, exhibition installation and curation are examples. Her
industry experience took her back and forth to South Asia for 6 years initially in 2010 with a two-month
applied arts creative residency at Turquoise Mountain’s Institute for Afghan Arts and Architecture in Kabul,
Afghanistan supported by the British Council and continued work with both organisations, and others through
India, Pakistan Afghanistan and Thailand. Melanie has undertaken contracts with institutions and corporations as
varied as Swarovski, DeBeers, the Victoria & Albert Museum, the British Council, The Crafts Council, The
National Gallery and The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths’. She is currently involved in a number of
initiatives looking at supporting diversity within the jewellery trade and is one of the founders of The Jewellery
Futures Fund, an initiative looking to effect change through a programme of scholarships, paid internships and
wider industry engagement.
Melanie is an Associate Lecturer on the MA Design: Ceramics Furniture and Jewellery programme at Central
Saint Martins College of Art and Design and at the University for the Creative Arts
